Donate/Sell Books

BooKu accepts book donations or selling from readers throughout West Malaysia on a long-term basis, whether it is a small quantity or large quantity (over 100 books).

Books that suitable for donation/selling

Categories of books accepted by BooKu:

  • Fiction category (literature, creative writing, translated literature, mystery, suspense, martial arts and etc.)
  • Non-fiction category (psychology and self-help, lifestyle and arts, business management, humanities, history, social sciences, popular sciences and etc.)
  • Children’s comics (e.g., Gempak Starz’s comic), picture books.
  • Books published within last 5 years are preferred for purchase (classics are an exception).

Categories rejected by BooKu:

  • Academic books like textbooks, teaching materials, dictionaries and reference books.
  • Religious books (free books from religious institution).
  • Pirated books.
  • Recipe books.
  • Second-hand magazines.
  • Books involving pornography, violence or gambling.
  • Books explicitly marked as non-resalable.
  • Books in poor condition that are unreadable (such as being sticky, missing pages, heavily scribbled or stained, etc.).

Books that are not suitable for reselling will be handled as follows:

  1. Donated to organizations in need.
  2. Delivered to recycling center.

Less than 100 books
Step 1：Snap some photo of the books and whatsapp to 011-1143 2757 for simple evaluation.
Step 2：Choose the method to send over.
Option (a). by shipping courier.
Option (b). Directly send to BooKu warehouse.
Option (c). Directly send to BooKu bookstore.
Over 100 books
Step 1：Snap some photo of the books and whatsapp to 011-1143 2757 for simple evaluation.
Step 2：Choose the method to send over.
Option (a). Directly send to BooKu warehouse.
Option (b). Directly send to BooKu bookstore.
Option (c). Contact 011-1143 2757 to arrange for pick up. Only for KL Selangor area, usually will be arranged on weekend morning.

Selling Disclaimer

  1. Due to uncertain supply and the incapable to sell plenty of books, the unsold books incur costs for storage and handling. Therefore, the purchase prices offered are low and not all books are accepted.
  2. The purchase price is approximately 1% to 10% of the original price. For new books published within a year, it will be around 15%-20% of the original price.
  3. Evaluation will be based on factors such as published date, book condition and market demand.

Option (c). Contact 011-1143 2757 to arrange for pick up. Only for KL Selangor area, usually will be arranged on weekend morning.
After quoted, fees will be transferred online.

  2. BooKu warehouse：

    It’s residential unit with gate opened, readers may come at anytime to drop theirs books. Books are required to put in box with name and phone number written on top. After that take photo and send it to 011-1142757 will do.

  3. BooKu Bookstore：

    GMBB Bukit Bintang, 3rd Floor
    Operating hours: 11am-8pm daily.

Shipping Allowance

BooKu will provide a postage subsidy of RM1 per 1 kg. (It is recommended to use the Pgeon courier service via Easyparcel platform for shipping, as it offers competitive pricing.)

Example 1: A reader wants to mail 6.5 kg of books to BooKu.

6.5 kg = RM6.50 postage fee will be subsidised.

Example 2: A reader wants to mail 21 kg of books to BooKu.

21 kg = RM21 postage fee will be subsidised.
